Vintage Thingy Thursday

It's another Vintage Thingie Thursday over at Coloradolady's. Check her out for more participants with their vintage thingies.

This is my 2nd grade elementary reader. I've had it all these years. I don't know how I kept from turning it in at the end of school so many years ago. But it's been in my childhood stuff every since.

See my name and the date published 1961.I remember the words so well.

I remember Run Spot Run better. But I guess that was another reader in another grade.

Do you remember these readers?

  3. I remember these readers, we were using them in the 1970s when I was in elementary school.
I see that you didn't steal this just from your town, but from the STATE of LA! There's probably a bench warrant out for you! LOL

  7. How did you know then to keep it?
That's what amazes me with so many posts...where did the wisdom come from to know to keep a potential, future treasure???

  8. I remember the old readers....things have really changed since I was in school. I look at my granddaughter's homework and I'm amazed at what they are learning, so young.

  10. I love old books and children books are the best. I too have some books from school. My readers I bought at a vintage book store. They were like the ones we read. I am always on the look out for books I had as a child.

  13. Amazing ! - - I never knew you had it - - Your handwriting was very good for a 2nd grader - - You should display the book in your home - your future grandchildren will love it -

So - what other 'school things' do you have?

If your reading teacher was still living - I would tell her ! (ha ha)

  17. I remember this one and Spot,
Dick and Jane. Repetition is much
better than memorization for reading. Do you have the SRA packets
    too? LOL

  18. Oh you are so lucky to still have that. How wonderful to touch something now that you touched as a small girl.
