Doggie Doings

I'm a softee when it comes to hosting grand dogs. It's not my first rodeo at dog sitting.

Joy gets treated equally well. The weather forecast was for a rainy/stormy night. So we brought her in for the night. With things being different and all you know. She was more than happy to oblige.

I made her a pink bed and she claimed it as hers.

By late night she was out like a light.

Morning came. Then noon. And she was still inside. I took her on a run/walk/bathroom stop and came right back in. She choose a few dog toys from Poochie's stash and played quietly with an occasional squeak from a toy.

Plans were to put her out shortly. But one thing led to another and she stayed in again for a second night.

She slept good that night. This is where she was the next morning.

What have I created?

Guest

We're doggie sitting one of the grand dogs. Joy is her name and her parents are facing real life moments:
* sold a house
* no closing date on the new house
* they are homeless
* so living with the aunt of the bride-to-be which is also their realtor
* getting married in less than two weeks
* going on a week long honey moon
* and, have no where to leave the dog for about 3 weeks.

First a sibling kept Joy. Only for three days. She barked all night and escaped out under the privacy fence.

Then they tried a dog sitter for two days. Which would be great if it wasn't over $400 a month fee for her services.

We're trying next. We requested a dog house along with the dog. So far. So good. We haven't heard a peep out of her. The first night she slept in her dog house all night till 8am the next morning when I went to check on her. She came our stretching and wagging her tail.

She's eating well. We feed her more than we were instructed too. She may go
home a little heavier than when she arrived.

I take her for walks and she trots around looking for her mom and dad.

But she's a little saddened not knowing why her life is all upside down. I tell her they'll all be back together at their new home ASAP.

Side by side

On a majority of our RV trips some of our kids and their family would meet us and camp with us. I enjoyed being the hostess, mawmaw on the scene, and in charge. But, one group loved it so much they purchased their own camper. Now they want to follow us and camp out beside us.

They made their initial trip and invited us along beside them. It was really the same for me. I still was the mawmaw on scene and we hosted the breakfast each morning. Only difference was that we slept 2 instead of 6. A big difference. Quieter and roomier.

It was a quick close-by stay and an off season weekend not crowded. I took advantage of an early morning walk. We're early risers. They're sleepy heads. We had planned the meal schedules as to who would do which. So we were heads up on getting things ready and done. We rode bikes both days, all day.

They hosted the bonfire and smores' night. Marshmallow toasting memories will last forever.

Smores' seemed to hit the spot.

The fire was roaring with a slight chill in the air.

And a lovely rare moon that night makes the case for a camping weekend life.

Showering

I had every intention to write everyday in February. Well, I've had no spare minute to share a moment. Now that the weekend is over, I have the time.

Friday was a shopping day looking for a dress and the shower gift. Both was accomplished. The great Mall that I find so hard to maneuver in was my destination. And I must say I think I finally  conquered it by myself. Making my way in Dillard's, Macy's, Pottery Barn, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Saturday was the shower day. An awesome southern gathering in the back yard/patio with a theme of Mardi Gras/Crawfish. Mardi Gras beads hanging and draped everywhere. A Mardi Gras cake, boiled crawfish with the trimmings (mushrooms, corn on the cob and sausage), deli sandwiches, and cupcakes arranged in the shape of a crawfish was on the menu.

The shower gifts were so appreciative of the bride/groom-to-be. And the guys rolled out a game of corn hole.

Sunday still had me in baby sitting mode for the fourth day. We enjoyed a lunch delivery of jambalaya, little ones most favorite dish.

Sunday nite I'm back home. Tomorrow morning I'll be back in the work force and waiting for more fun times.

Out and About

Just me and the little man today.
After school we made a stop at the cookie store.

One for each of us to eat there and one each to go.

We spent time working on a Batman Lego set before bedtime.

We'll see what day two brings tomorrow.
