Coloradolady is hosting Love on Wednesdays in February. Each Wednesday in February participants will post a picture depicting their view of love. This is the final episode of Love on Wednesdays . She did a fantastic job of creating this fun for us this month. Thank you Suzanne.
I love February --because of --- Valentines Day, Mardi Gras, and My Birthday!!.
My birthday is Friday. Since I was a young teen I have shared my birthday with a family member. She was born on my birthday. Her name is Bobbie. We are technically cousins, but grew up together and are really closer as sisters. So ever year since then we have shared a birthday cake with both our names on it, shared the birthday party, and some must think we are twins because we are given identical presents at the birthday party. This has been going on for 40 years. Except a couple years when she lived out of state. No complaints here though, because I really like it.
The last 3 years we have added a threesome to our party. My sweet beautiful daughter (she is my daughter-in-law) Julie's birthday is March 2nd. So we have added her to our birthday celebration. Her name is added to the cake, she shares the party, and some of her gifts are identical to ours. She will be 23, so she does get some younger oriented gifts than me or Bobbie.
It's always a blast to celebrate a birthday, but when you have the tradition like we have it's even more of a blast. And I love it!!

Gifts Galore
After being gone for several days, I came home to find some packages just for me. A package from Val. We had been talking about mardi gras fabric and I think I kind of gave her the wrong idea about something. And this is what she sent me. I love it. So cute and so very bright. Mardi gras fabric with masks and beads on it. And a mardi gras bead too. She's my blogger friend from Louisiana and I sent her one too. So we can do Mardi Gras!!
Then I opened a package from Kaye . So cute too. A donut with sprinkles!! the donut is a pin cushion. And the sprinkles are colored pins. How cute is that? And she sent me a wreath and holly pattern with coordinating fabric to make it. Kaye was so thoughtful. She won my giveaway in Whirl Into Winter and just loved her gift that she wanted to give me something.
Thank you Val and Kaye.
Also, I have sent out my PIF gifts. They are hot pot pads. Three people will be getting a package in the mail from me!!

A day down home
I got to spend a few days down home. It was enjoyable. But not for a good reason. Peg had surgery. It was scheduled for an out patient, but it turned into 2 days. I went to take her to the hospital, stay with her, then bring her home.
So while at the hospital, I took some pictures of her 2 day stay. It was kind of like a vacation for me. And I told her I was going to do a story of her hospital stay so I could take pictures of everything. = I want show all of them, but just a few to give you an idea. This is her waiting before surgery.
She had to have a few test the next day, so I took a quick trip across the street to this:
She even told the nurses that she loved the food. No one understood quite why!!
She had visitors.
She got some flowers.
and finally we got to go home.
Her surgery was suppose to be out-patient gall bladder surgery. There was complications is why she stayed an extra day and a half.
She is doing fine. And I am glad I took pictures for 2 days. We enjoyed the laughs. I will leave the really good pictures for her to post. I don't want her to be mad at me for posting some that are really outrageously funny. I really had to refrain myself from posting those. Go here to see if she posted any on her blog!

Vintage Thingy Thursday
It's another Vintage Thingie Thursday over at Coloradolady's. Check her out for more participants with their vintage thingies.
We have some of my husband Grandmother's items. She was a "city" lady, into clubs, meetings, etc. She is no longer with us, she was 97 years old when she passed. She woulld be like 110 years old today or older. So these may really be depression era wear. They may be antiques and not vintage. Several months after she passed away and her estate was settled, family were able to go into her house and choose items she had and keep them as momentos.
The label is printed on the suede inside the large hat with the feather. The label reads Velusuede "The Artell--- Finish" "He--Polla Inc." "New York". "100% wool" I can't read some of the letters, I typed them with dashes.
We also have one of her hat boxes. Both hats were in this hat box when we claimed them.

I can picture her being dressed looking just like one of those ladies in an old movie with the straight dress and fancy hat on. She seemed so very high society like. Her house was huge, filled with large heavy furniture. When we visited she was very well mannered and such etiquette, serving tea or coffee on a tray and her buffet in dining room would be lined up with food, even though she did not know we were coming. She had a parlor with that linen wall paper with tiny red roses on it. I guess that was kind of victorian.
Well, I really don't know what era these things are from -- vintage, victorian, or depression. Give me your thoughts!!

Love on Wednesday's #3
Coloradolady is hosting Love on Wednesdays in February. Each Wednesday in February participants will post a picture depicting their view of love. This week I'm showing my love of the water.
We've taught our kids well for the love of the water too. God made the water and intended for us to enjoy it.
I hope I didn't bore you with my "home movies". Go here to visit other participants in Love on Wednesdays.

I love the water. I am a Pisces so why wouldn't I?
But here I think I love the memories more than the water!
I love a clean white sandy beach with an ocean view where water is all you see beyond the beach with a beautiful sunrise and sunset. We went to the coast a lot when the kids were small. Here they are playing on the beach. They've been following a hermit crab.

I will take any kind of water. A swimming pool would be nice too. Swimming pools at the hotel on vacation is very nice.
Here are a few of the kids and a friend playing in the above ground pool we had when they were smaller.

But hey I don't get much beach time or pool time any more. So I will take any water. At this point and time in our lives we are taking in some boating/fishing trips. Here we are out on the river with all the kids and their boats too. This was my mother's day last year.
This was boating and fishing in our pond at our house with a little boat. See there is water.
This is a little bit of fishing at a nearby lake.
And what better way to end a day on the water by docking at Kevin's and all enjoying a nice scrumptous dinner.

Love on Wednesdays #2
Coloradolady is hosting a photo meme Love on Wednesdays in February. Each Wednesday participants will post a picture depicting their view of love in all the right places. Here's what I think about when I think of love this week.
I am in love with MY COKE.I have to have my Coca-Cola everyday. Either ice cold straight from the can. Or poured over an ice cold glass full of ice.
And it is best when I can relax, everything quite, and just me and my Coke.
It even cures my headache, my nerves, my stress. And boy does that first strong, ice cold taste hit the spot. I even have coca-cola glasses.
I think I can't live without it!!

Hello Mr. Postman
I received in the mail yesterday another blogging perk!!
I commented on Val's PIF post and was one of the lucky ones to receive one of her handmade goodies -- a cute yummy strawberry and pink print pin-cushion. I've already put pins in it and it is ready to use!!
The rules for this PIF (Pay it Forward) was to be one of the first 3 to comment and receive the handmade item. In return I had to spread the joy and post the PIF info also and my first 3 to comment would receive a handmade goodie from me and then they would continue the Pay it Forward also. Poor lonely me only had 1 to comment and she will receive a handmade goodie from me. If you are interested, look a few posts down and read about it and leave poor lonely me a comment and I will send you a handmade goodie and then you Pay it Forward!!!

Vintage Thingy Thursday
It's another Vintage Thingie Thursday over at Coloradolady's. Check her out for more participants with their vintage thingies.
This is my 2nd grade elementary reader. I've had it all these years. I don't know how I kept from turning it in at the end of school so many years ago. But it's been in my childhood stuff every since.
See my name and the date published 1961.I remember the words so well.
I remember Run Spot Run better. But I guess that was another reader in another grade.
Do you remember these readers?

Love on Wednesdays
Coloradolady is hosting a photo meme Love on Wednesdays in February. Each Wednesday participants will post a picture depicting their view of love in all the right places. Here's what I think about when I think of love.
Love is a bouquet of red roses from my husband for no certain reason or occasion given to me only now and then when I least expect it. It may not be on Valentines Day or our anniversary, but just a special day that he is thinking about us.

Pay it forward
Val has played the Pay It Forward post. The rule is to send a little handmade love within the next 365 days to the first three people who signed up and commented on her post.
I was one of the lucky ones... See? It pays to leave those comments!
In turn, I have agreed to Pay it Forward and spread the joy by sending a little handmade goodie to the first three people who sign up right here. The only catch of course, is that you must agree to continue this lovely chain of handmade happiness to three people of your own. Oh, and make sure you leave me a way to contact you.
That being said....are you in?
