Walk-A-Thon

My personal walk-a-thon I manage to do 2-3 days a week on my own personal track made around the boundary of the yard and right at the edge of the woods takes me 1 mile in about 12 minutes. 

My track is similar to a field track at a track meet in length and shape without the nice rubber or asphalt cover to enjoy walking or running on. 

I pass the almost completed greenhouse along the back stretch. It's been in the construction phase for a while now. It's scheduled for completion this spring. Yayyy!! 

A feathered friend is asleep in her house at the peak of the greenhouse front. I've seen her in and out recently. You can see her sleeping with her beak sticking out of her door.  

Probably because it's so dang hot tonite she can't breathe all cooped up in her teeny tiny little house on a pile of straw and twigs that she made her nest of. Just saying. 

Times up for me and I call it a run. 

My phone app tells me I went my mile.

The "P" Word

I still have the pageant fever. It's enjoyable with a rush of excitement in planning for the day.  And excitement in watching the event which can be full of surprises because it's nothing you can control with babies and 2 year olds and not knowing what their actions are going to be. Then the excitement waiting on results. It's not if you win or loose but how you play the game. (Of course we always want to win top prize.) 

So here's a roundup of the past few I haven't blogged about. 

There was a benefit pageant for a good cause. 

Attire was Sunday best. 

We competed in a local preliminary for Sunburst National. 

Both won Queen and some side awards.

And then LA Our Little Miss with a Princess and a 3rd runner up. 

I love me some pageants!

Food/Work Session

I spent an overnight/workday helping on a project and in return was served with delicious food prepared by the host of the project in her home. . She loves  to cook and never disappoints her guest.

Friday evening dinner was some of my favorites. On the menu was baked chicken, fresh homemade baked sweet potatoe fries, and baked asparagus. 

She has a Jen-Aire convection oven. And if you profess to be a cook you know that's the best cooking oven ever. Of course, it's made to be the most perfect cooking appliance the way it's designed to cook the food. I don't profess to be a cook, so I don't know the exact ins and outs of the procedure.  I just know the food is cooked so perfect. 

We slept well and arose at 7am with the tap, tap, tapping at the kitchen door of the other volunteer arriving for the work day. 

Our work list was accomplished before noon and we were feeling good about our project. The chef was back in the kitchen preparing our lunch of ham and cheese sliders. Not just any hot ham and cheese sandwich. But a Pinterest receive that was delicious with the extra topping. 

I'll go back to help with another project just for the food.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt

Crawfish, eggs, filled baskets and an egg hunt all before the rain arrived. The meteorologist was exact with his prediction of rain at 3pm. So we moved our festivities up a few hours and had the perfect day. Not too hot. Not cold. And were finished right when the rain came down. 

The Great Easter Egg Hunt was right after the winding down of the crawfish, corn on the cob, potatoes, mushrooms, lemon and onion. 

The Easter Basket emptying was entertaining. 

It's ready, get set, go! 

The Egg Hunt for two and a half year olds  do not take very long. 

They make their own rules as they go along. 

Which is kinda cute. They share the same baskets at times. And they don't care who found the most.

And some big bunnies were there to enjoy the day. 

And eat and and play.
