Five February Favorites

I'm linked to Mamakats writing prompt #5 - Five Most Recent Favorite Things. But I added February to the title for the all "F" sounds - Five February Favorites. So I'll get right to the list.

#1 - Happy Birthday Month To Me.
My birthday is special. I'm thankful God gave me another year. I want to make the most of it. I've celebrated all month. I've done pretty good all month so far in celebration with Mardi Gras and Valentines Day and Birthday. And there's 11 days left for celebrating.

#2 -  The USPS mailman. The mailman is the deliverer of all things good in February. There were mall shopping coupons in a mailer with a $10 Happy Birthday spending card just for me. I bought a shirt on the clearance rack marked 1/2 off clearance with the $10 Happy Birthday spending card and only had to pay $1.62 more. And spent the other coupons on Valentine goodies. And, the mailman delivered a McDonald's Gift Card to me from a special person. And, delivered my Ipsy monthly $10 makeup glam bag filled with all my favorites. A makeup bag, concealer by It Cosmetics, brush by Luxie, passionate pink lipstick by Chella, eye shadow by Naked, and hydrating creme by Seraphine Botanicals.

#3 - Hobby Lobby visit.
Me and my Christmas Hobby Lobby gift card spent a few hours of shopping bliss for fabric and trims and glitter and bling.

#4 - Spring is in the air.
Temps are up. Thoughts of spring and summer plans are racing thru my mind. My actual favorite time of the year.

#5 - Of course my best February favorite.
If you've visited my blog even once in your lifetime you've seen and read all about my three favorite of all things.

It's been a good month.

Working on Easter Baskets

My daughter requested that I make Easter baskets for a commmunity egg hunt. She sent me a few pictures of ideas she saw online.

So I went with my own design with a little fru-fru and a little bling.

I had the pink chevron and the pink sparkle tulle. I found the cutest mint green/white/pink bunny fabric and matching shiny mint green ribbon which I bought with a Hobby Lobby gift card I received at Christmas. And bought another pink print for the other basket.

I machine embroideried her name and added a bow to the handle. The basket and handle has quilt batting in it for firmness and softness to stay standing. And the bottom of basket has heavy Pellon stabilizer to keep it from turning over.

I like! Now to make the others.

To My Valentines

Of course, I have quite a few Valentines.
But these are by far the cutest.

Mardi Gras baby sitting day (because schools and day care take a holiday for Mardi Gras) was combined with a Valentine party. We had Valentine candy and pizza and made a Valentine banner.

Pink and red hearts were pre-cut before the party.  Each chose sizes and colors of the hearts they wanted. We lined them up and taped them together. And applied puffy heart stickers to our heart banners.

And the littlest one put all her puffy heart stickers on all by herself.

Happy Valentines Day to all my Valentines:
    ❤️ husband
❤️ kids and their spouses and girlfriends
    ❤️ grand kiddos
    ❤️ sisters
    ❤️ brother
    ❤️ And, blogger friends

Pageant Cover-up Cape Quick Project

I whipped up a couple of pageant cover-up capes on a Friday evening with nothing going on and a little boredom.

Inspiration came from a Facebook "friend" who I don't know personally but we friended each other thru pageants. She takes custom pageant orders and makes pretty pageant wear at a pretty price.

We've been wanting a cover-up cape since the beginning of our pageant experience. Don't know why I didn't think to make one a while back. With my fabric stash and rolls and rolls of trim I made two in one night in about five hours. Those five hours included throwing a quick dinner together.

Just enough blue satin with just enough pink trim made one cover up cape. And her monogrammed name added.

And just enough pink satin with matching fabric to make a ruffle made the second one with her monogrammed name.

Each one has white satin lining which I have plenty of white still left.

This is how they will look wearing over the pageant dress to serve the purpose of protecting the dress from drink and snack and water and sometimes boogers and finger prints and many other things that just happen while waiting.

I'm going to add an iron on rhinestone applique of a crown above the monogrammed name. Just waiting on them to come in.

A great accomplishment in just a few hours. Pageant seamstress sellers on Facebook sell this for $55 and up. Mine cost $0 because I had everything on hand, except the iron on appliques which are $6.03 total.

"Well done" to me!
