Remembering Those Who Gave

It’s the day for special remembrance of those who gave their all so we could live in the land of the free and home of the brave. I thank them today. Which includes my dad, grandpa and uncles.

Things are showing up red, white and blue around here. Fourth of July is my most favorite summer holiday. So I start it early with Memorial Day. I like anything patriotic. I have to have the flag/stars/stripes in anything I see for home use. Like the paper products of plates, napkins, trays, etc., especially if we make a few camping trips.

I’m DIYed a few things to show my red, white and blue. Including re-vamping a three star thingy thing I bought last year about this time at Dollar Tree.

With an assortment of ribbons, lace, and fabric it’s turning into a wind chime without the chimes. It’s really pretty.

I always like a banner of some sort on my fireplace mantle. Simple. Meaningful.

A few more things left to DIY and the fireworks can start!

DIY Paper Roses

Quilting days are set aside for a short time while I wait on fabric to arrive that was ordered. So I switched gears to flower making. Yes, I’ll try anything once.

I watch a crafter on Facebook. She’s on live everyday, all day. And has such great inspirations and I just have to try some of them. This one craft was paper roses. I tried it and I liked it.

You’ll need coffee filters, paint, floral wire, floral tape, leaves, glue gun and a vase. Paint the coffee filters, dry, fold, cut, and wrap. It’s was so simple and I’m in love with the end result.

Of course, you could just buy pretty fake roses. But it’s the accomplishment of making your own fake roses that make them beautiful.

I made three dozen rose stems. I got carried away painting the coffee filters. Then I had to find three vases to stick them in with some fake leaves and some baby’s breath, which I did not make (haha).

Here’s the link for the tutorial Coffee filter roses . Try them and see how easy they are.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to the oldest of our three!! Every year gets better and better.

He’s enjoying the dirt bike racing scene while his almost 9 year old races too. We try to make it to some of the races that are close enough to make there snd back in a day.

He’s holding on to 2nd place this season out of 20 or more riders in his class. Every race I hope for safety first, then to make it up on that podium for either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.  And he’s doing just fine with that.

Now the girls

After a day with the boys, I spent a short day with the girls. It’s true, girls just want to have fun. And that’s what we did.

They updated me on all the things going in in their back yard. The chickens were laying a lot of eggs, the blueberries and orange trees had tiny fruit in them. And The old swing their mom was re-furbing was finally done.

They have a new puppy. He’s cute, but I don’t envy them right now because I now remember how busy and frustrating house training a puppy can be. If you know what I mean?

We played a fashion game. I had to choose a fashion look and they went in their room and found stuff to play the part. I choose shopping fashion and beach fashion for a few ideas.

Note the mom’s high heels!!

They did not disappoint. They were so creative. These girls are on fire!

We had a fun day. They are growing up fast and I miss all the days we’ve had when they were younger.
