A special day spent being a MOM. I loved it. But I love everyday being a mom.

 

And showing a little appreciation to my MIL with a little wrapped gift for mother's day.

 

My prayers are thoughts are with all those along the Mississippi River while the flood waters rage down to the Gulf. I have family and friends who are watching the flood waters as it is scheduled to make it to them on May 23. Go see them here and here.They are keeping a watchful eye on it.

A visit from the  UPS guy. A gift for my husband from his work. Their quarterly points rewards. Its a expresso/cappuccino machine. Gonna try it out in the morning. Any body know anything about this brand?

And of all things, it was least expected, and lasted only 15 minutes. Here's the rain shower bouncing off the concrete..

New Book

I bought a how-to book.

Though this is not new to me. I have been around home vegetable and fruit canning all my childhood life. Not so much during my adult life. I do make strawberry jam almost every year, check it out here. And now I going to use this book and do a little grocery making this fruit and vegetable season in canning and freezing.

What were they thinking?

While driving to work Friday, there was this huge traffic jam.  I take the same route every single day thru a nice neighborhood with nice houses.  Cars lined up on the side of the street at 7:30am can only mean one thing -- garage sale, yard sale, estate sale, etc.

It was too late to slam on brakes and turn onto the street, (didn't want to wreck my new truck). So I went up a street and made the block. I joined the lined street of vehicles and walked hastily to the house (couldn't be late for work),

I wasn't looking for anything in particular. And I haven't been "shopping" like this in a while.

There parked on the driveway among all their other outdoor equipment were 2 children's bikes. Priced at $3 each. How could that be? What's wrong with them? Why hasn't anyone else taken them? They must be meant for me? I wasn't prepared for this. I didn't have any cash on me. I asked the gentlemen if he would hold them for me for 10 minutes while I went to the ATM for some cash. I drove like a maniac for 5 or 6 blocks to get to an ATM,  hoping I wouldn't be late for work  I paid the $6 and rolled them to my truck.  That's not a tear on the seats, that's a price tag that says $3.

The green one is going to make Tyler very happy.

This week has gone by fast. It's already Friday.So here is a random view of my week.

Celebrated a 31st birthday for Brandon. Happy Birthday.

While sitting on the back porch late in the evening, we observed humming birds getting their a sip of nectar before dark. You have to look really close to see the little hummer on the edge of the feeder.

Clipped some good coupons (well, really only two coupons)  to use in the next week or two. Cut them out from my BHG magazine. We are going to treat ourselves to dinner for 2 for 20 bucks at Ruby Tuesdays. And a trip to Bed  Bath &  Beyond to save 20%  on a house gift for someone.

The worst part of any week is mopping, cleaning and scrubbing. And this week was no different.

This week

It was Easter week. Spring break down south.. So some spring break pictures texted to me via cell phones.  I wasn't there, but the pictures made me day dream. This one sent from Destin FL

Took a walk down the paths thru the woods. And some deer/turkey blinds still standing from the guys hunting adventures this past season.

Wanted to pick some nice magnolias from my big trees. But they were to high up to reach.

Had an April YOE due to be mailed by the end of the month. It was "bird's nest" month. I crochet a tiny bird nest out of fun fur yarn and added 3 little glittered pompoms. And sewed a mama bird to add to the package. I got it to the post office at noon Friday, beating the deadline by 1 day.

And, wish I could lounge around and nap all day.

My monthly fishin' fix

It's in the middle of the spring, just the right temp - not too hot yet. So, hit the lake is just what they did.

Tyler and his dad. Tyler was the winner for the day. He caught the first fish. The biggest fish. And the only fish!! Chris and Larry were zero for zero. I have to have the award ceremony.

An Egg Story

For the 50th something time I am dying Easter eggs. I have done this every year of my life. Usually with help from my grandma every year, years and years ago. Then dying Easter eggs with help from my kids for many many years. And this year I dyed Easter eggs all by my self. Husband was at work and kids are not home.  Well, the show must go on.

A few dozen boiled eggs plus a cute egg dying/decorating kit joins me and gets me started.

 

. Plain dyed eggs. No glitter, no writings or drawings with the wax pencil . No little bunny and chick cardboard egg holder for the egg to sit in.  No fancy smancy stickers to stick on the dyed eggs. I must have bought the wrong kit. All it had was the colored tablets, a plastic egg spoon and plastic disposable cups to hold the dye. Oh well, the plastic disposable cups were great!

Then, we can hide some dyed eggs and eat some dyed eggs, And eat some more in tuna salad, chef salad and any other kind of salad. 

But the most important part of Easter is our risen Savior Jesus.

Gardening 101

I picked up several hibiscus today. Kind of starting to add to my yard this spring.

These will remain pot plants. Hope I keep them watered so they make it thru the summer.
