schools out

Kindergarten and pre-k4 has been done for a few weeks now. A school year of learning all new things is exciting for the youngsters.

Cohen's kindergarten graduation was a preview of what to expect at his high school graduation. He walked across the stage so proud to accept his kindergarten diploma.

Congratulations!!

Just as cute and sweet as he can be as he received honor roll award.

His parents, his poppa, and me and pawpaw were all there to honor him on this great milestone.

So proud of you!!

The next day was pre-k4 graduation. Their program showed how much they have learned this school year as they received their Pre-K4 certificate and ready for Kindergarten.

She also received the Superstar Award.

It fit her personality perfect.

Brooklyn's mom and dad and sissy and me and pawpaw were all there to see her  milestone.

So thankful and blessed.

April's Run-down

April is so mid-year. Now it's May. Time flies. Things change. That's what so great about blogging, also. Time has flown since I've last blogged.

There are still sewing projects in my life. This summer dress. I just really love it. Her mom, not really thrilled over it.

Trying out a new version of quilting, I call art quilts. This happens to be a peacock art quilt. Yes or no?

And I've become a vendor in a local antique/market gallery. There's a ton of stuff stashed in my little corner of husbands workshop that is perfect for selling that I've had for years. No, I'm not a hoarder. Just stuff nicely stacked and boxed away from times gone by. Some stuff new never used, some old, and some not so old. My first set up is mostly framed prints, decorative shelves, etc.

Then I added metal patio art, small furniture pieces, and other new, old, and not so old stuff.

I need a bigger booth!

Let the games begin

March starts spring training and games for all things sports. So soccer has started for two of the little ones.
Three years old and five year olds games can be entertaining. Luckily they last only forty-five minutes.
And the oldest is starting practice for dirt bike motor cross competition. So I have places to be and things to watch for a few weeks.

Cohen is not new to dirtbikes or four wheelers for little tykes.  But this will be his first for competition racing with all the gear to keep safe.

His dad giving him pointers to win and rules to stay safe.

He can ride and can't wait to see his standing in his first competition.

And

Brynlee did great for the first play in her soccer game.  She ran, kicked, and did everything her team coach-dad trained her to do in practice.

But after that she had had enough. One play was enough for her.

The five year old team was all about soccer. Brooklyn  must have learned a lot at practices. She was right on point with everything.

She was right in the middle of things where ever the ball was.

She did good.

She was proud of herself to the end.

Two Months Later

Christmas was over two months ago. I did do Christmas with family and friends.

It snowed for the second time in two months, each for one day. I know now I don't need snow in my life.

January and February birthdays have come and gone. You always need a cake and a gift. A February birthday calls for a king cake or two or three even if it has to be before your actual day.

There was sewing projects done in the last two months. Another carousel horse quilt that I'm obsessed with for some reason. It's the third one I've made. And one I call the bird quilt. And a new adventure started in February that I'll share soon.

Now it's March and I'm back. Maybe because it's springtime almost. Or maybe I miss the ol' blog. Or maybe it's because my blogging friends keep on blogging and it encourages me also.

Sighting of Santa's Reindeer

Out in the forest in the backyard we keep an eye on the famous reindeer:

The guys came to go hunting and thank goodness they only spotted them on the game camera.

All 9 of them were there.

They just waiting around and relaxing till Santa calls them to say he's ready to go.

Tonite's the night!

I'm that person

The last few days before Christmas are my favorite to shop. I'll think of some reason to go to the mall.

So today I went. I like the Christmas atmosphere of Carols and songs playing with Christmas decorations in every store and center of the mall.

I like the Santa scene. I like the crowds. I like seeing that one thing that hits you in the brain and says, "this is the perfect gift for _____." I like finding the perfect holiday sale that I can't pass up.

Though, my Christmas shopping list has been made for weeks, and everything has been checked off, and checked twice, I did find a perfect gift that I wasn't even looking for.

I still may need another trip to the mall before Christmas Day just to get my "fix" before the season ends.

It'll soon be over till next December.

Party with the M-I-L

Christmas parties have started.

The mother-in-law recently moved into an assisted living center. The center had their Family Christmas Night this week. We attended.

A Santa, a band, a meal, and a present made for a pretty festive evening for the old folks.

The MIL actually knew the Santa in person. She was happy to take a picture with him.

I wanted a picture with Santa, too, but I gave up after watching all the little old ladies waiting their turn. So just a picture of me and MIL.

There was probably a couple hundred people in attendance. And in case you are wondering, my MIL will be 87 this month.

Merry Christmas!

once every few years

"Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow. Do you want to build a snowman? White Christmas." That's the Christmas songs we could sing this week on the day we got snow in the south.

A blanket of the white stuff sure is pretty.
We get excited as it falls. Then grumpy the next day with the messy after effects as it melts.

Seems so strange that my color pictures look black and white with one pop of color.

I made my snowman. Husband says he looks mad. I admit my snowman has a long face and a tiny carrot nose. What snowman has blue eyes? There's no round body parts at all.

I don't really know how to make a snowman. And I use what I can find in the moment. The knit hat and knit scarf I took off my head and neck to dress the snowman.

It was good for a day.

and there was Thanksgiving

It's been a month full of Thanksgiving events for me.

When one group game over for the day, the little guy stayed over for a few days and his mom and dad went home. We had a bon fire, built some lego things inside, and stayed up late into the night.

Grandparents Thanksgiving lunch at school with the 3 year old. A room full of 3 year olds and Mawmaw and pawpaws and 2 teachers. We did a craft and then had lunch.

We attended a fall dance recital for these two.

The arrow shows where our dancer is.

A super fun entertaining night.

Thanksgiving Day was traditional food, family and friends. Some were missing and a few new faces at the table. Our emtertainment for the day was a turkey shoot with nerf guns and turkey paper plates.

No real turkeys or real kids were harmed.
