Life for 3 days

We are blessed to be given each day and I’m thankful. Three full days packed full of life is a blessing. This weekend was chocked full of things on the run.
There were dirt bike racing, ball games, my wedding anniversary of 47 years, Halloween trick or treat, and a celebration of life for my dear sweet aunt who passed away.

Here’s how my little grands looked for their trick or treating nite.

Finished

I’ve finished a quilt to donate to a silent auction as a fund raiser for a motorcycle club in Fl. All proceeds go to supplying and stocking a food pantry in their area. It’s the 2nd year I’ve been a part of this. Last year was a sailboat theme quilt, so I’m keeping with the theme for this years quilt.

I’m loving the look. It’s kinda big measuring 96”x96”. The center sailboats are a fabric panel, then I used a matching blue sailboat print, a blue pinstripe, and then a white strip to form borders around the panel. Pinwheels in each corner are put in give a framed look.

My connection to this club is my daughters in-laws are in the club and I partnered with them to contribute an item for the silent auction. I’m happy to be able to join in this and give a little to those in need.

The silent auction is in December and I’ll be donating a 2nd quilt also. Only it’s not even started yet, do I have to get busy to come up with another one.

Festival Time

Fall and spring is always filled with festivals, as you all know. The River Run in our area was last weekend. I became a vendor in it, set up a booth, and spent the day being a sales person for my quilts.

I’ve made a lot of quilts lately, so I tried my hand at getting rid of them this way.  I’m did ok and sold a few. I also had an “Enter To Win” give-away to entice people to stop and look at my merchandise. That worked like a charm.

Right before the end of the evening I had the drawing and the person who won was still at the festival and she picked it up. I gave away this baby crib quilt.

I’m now planning to do a Christmas festival in early December and sell some more. Wish me luck again!

Fancy like that

This one had a Happy Ninth Birthday Party in October. Happy Birthday sweet girl!

A few years ago I started a new tradition where I give each grand their own special party with just me and Pawpaw and their mom dad and siblings. They choose their theme, I bring cookie cake, candles, decorations, and gifts to shower them with my love.

Ummm . . .

Three months have gone by. There’s not much to catch you up on, but I’ll do it anyway, all in one post.

There was remembering 9-11 day. I happen to be keeping the youngest of the grands for the day. We had our own remembrance of that day.

I introduced him to the flag of the USA. We had our own parade and enjoyed our day together.

I can always count on dirt bike races and soft ball games to keep me entertained on weekends. My peewee class dirt bike rider brought home 1st place and hole shot, which is first off the start and first at the first turn.

This 10up team was on fire at a weekend softball tournament. They won championship after playing 11 teams all weekend.

One little one had tonsillectomy and took a few extra days to recoup and I got to stay a few days with them and give him all the mawmaw TLC he needed. He was a trooper and is now wild as ever.

Yes, this is all about the grands and how they entertain me. I have to show  #3 out of the 5 to be even-steven. Her pastime is dance and having to be at all her sisters ball games. But when I’m there too, she’s my sidekick.

My dear sweet mother-in-law passed away at the age of 92 during this time. After the lovely celebration of life for her we took pictures of her legacy, which is her family she left behind. We know we’ll see her again when we all get to heaven.

Happy Birthday Again

Happy Birthday to the youngest of our kids. He’s a husband, a dad, a hard worker, fun, loves outdoors, loves to do the cooking, and loves everything else that would make him a great person. Yes, I’m getting carried away.

Happy birthday Trent!

Let’s Have A Heart to Heart Talk

Well, it’s a talk about a heart quilt. There’s several heart quilt patterns out there that I like. One is beautiful with a lot of piecing called Exploding Heart, and one is cute that’s really simple and doesn’t need much thinking about the layout called Have A Heart. If you’ve seen my past work, you know I’m all about simple, quick, large construction. So, of course, I choose to do the big simple construction.

This quilt started as a vision for a wedding gift for someone I’ve only met online on a crafting Facebook page. Her wedding is October. I’m preparing it for shipping to her now.

I do know that blues and greens are her favorite colors. You learn a lot about people you are obsessed with on Facebook crafting pages. This heart form is made using almost 3 fabric jelly rolls and the background is almost 3 white fabric jelly rolls. Remember, I said it’s simple. Sew the printed jelly roll strips end to end, cut to specifications in the pattern instructions to form the heart and add the white strip lengths per specifications in the pattern instructions. Then sew the created strips together side to side to complete the quilt top.

The left over strips were enough to use for the binding to be matchy-match. And the backing is a medium blue and white small print. Quilted on domestic machine with large space stippling effect.

This quilt says a lot—it’s looks cool, summery, light weight, romantic, looks like home. Hoping the young newlyweds like it and know it’s a gift from my heart for them to use and treasure for years to come.

This is one for the road, literally. It’s on its way to Georgia!

Summer Birthdays

Rounding out our summer birthdays is Cohen turning 9 in one week. I get to celebrate with him early cause they leave on his birthday for Florida vacation. He’ll be birthday celebrating two or more times.

I brought the party to him. I ordered and picked up the cookie cake, candles,  a few presents, and a few decorations.

His mom and dad will give him a fantastic party with their friends all on vacation next week. But this mawmaw is not going to miss celebrating him so I bring a party to him a week early.

Happy Birthday Cohen. Oldest of the grands who holds the fort down when they all together.

Twice the Birthday Fun

There’s a birthday celebration every month or two around here. And this time around 2 of them are 4 days apart. I’m sharing the celebration fun of both.

Everett made 2 years old and Brynlee turned 7 four days later.

Happy Birthday Everett! Two years old. You are a handful, full of energy and curiosity. Always wanting to keep up with your big brother.

It’s Brynlee’s turn the next weekend.

Happy Birthday Brynlee! Seven years old at the water park with friends and family.  You’re cute as a princess and you act like one too.

It did rain but they were already wet from the pools so they didn’t even notice.

Someone, who just had a birthday party last week, was ready for another birthday cookie cake!!

Happy birthdays sweet Everett and Brynlee!

So, why not add some other photos from the birthdays.

Here’s a picture overload.

Remembering Those Who Gave

It’s the day for special remembrance of those who gave their all so we could live in the land of the free and home of the brave. I thank them today. Which includes my dad, grandpa and uncles.

Things are showing up red, white and blue around here. Fourth of July is my most favorite summer holiday. So I start it early with Memorial Day. I like anything patriotic. I have to have the flag/stars/stripes in anything I see for home use. Like the paper products of plates, napkins, trays, etc., especially if we make a few camping trips.

I’m DIYed a few things to show my red, white and blue. Including re-vamping a three star thingy thing I bought last year about this time at Dollar Tree.

With an assortment of ribbons, lace, and fabric it’s turning into a wind chime without the chimes. It’s really pretty.

I always like a banner of some sort on my fireplace mantle. Simple. Meaningful.

A few more things left to DIY and the fireworks can start!
